FILMIPYÖRÄ IS . . .

A touring cinema operating in Pirkanmaa, whose mission is to promote local film culture by organizing film screenings and festivals in cooperation with municipalities and other parties.

Filmipyörä was started by Jari Hallamaa in 1995. Hallamaa was responsible for the operations until 2020, and during his career went through the transition from film to the digital age. Today, Filmipyörä operates under the Pirkanmaa Film Center.

Our operations primarily focus on those municipalities in Pirkanmaa that do not have their own cinema.

Can I buy a movie ticket in advance?

Normally, we don’t sell advance tickets to our screenings. However, in some cases, we make exceptions if we expect a large audience for a specific event. In such cases, we will announce the option to purchase tickets in advance in our event notices.

Can I reserve seats in advance for a large group?

If you're coming with a group of 10 or more people and want to ensure adjacent seats, you can reserve them in advance via email: filmipyora@elokuvakeskus.fi. Reserved seats must be claimed no later than 15 minutes before the screening starts.

Where do you announce your screenings?

On our website, in the municipal event calendar, the local newspaper, and on Facebook.

Are there Finnish subtitles in the films?

Foreign films always have Finnish subtitles. In some venues, we also use subtitles for Finnish films if the acoustics are poor and the dialogue is difficult to understand. You can also request a subtitled version from our staff.

Are English subtitles available for the films?

Some films do have English subtitles. You can inquire in advance at: filmipyora@elokuvakeskus.fi
