Are you a young filmmaker or videographer aged 15–20? Now you have the opportunity to participate in the Kajo 2025 short film competition!

 

Competition theme: Nature and related topics
Max movie length: 10 minutes

Aspect ratio: Landscape video 16:9
Year of completion of the video: 2025 (previously completed works will not be accepted)
Deadline: Short film must be submitted by August 10th.

 

How to participate:

 

1. Make a documentary or fictional short film of up to 10 minutes in length that deals with nature and/or related topics. You can make the short film by yourself or in a group. You don't need to have previous experience in filmmaking, all that is needed is a passion for audiovisual storytelling! You can shoot the film with a phone or a SLR camera and edit it either with a mobile app or on a computer. Animation films are also accepted. Here are a few tips for free editing softwares.

Note: If your film features people other than yourself, please obtain their permission for filming and presentation

2. Upload your finished film to YouTube or Vimeo as a hidden (protected/private) link. Do not publish the film until the competition is over! We only accept unpublished films as participants.
 

3. Send the hidden Youtube or Vimeo link by email to miro@elokuvakeskus.fi by August 10th! Include the following information:

- Your own information and the information of any other possible participants

- The name of your short film

- A short introduction to the film (max 300 characters)
 

Competition progress:

1. A professional jury will select the five best short films.

2. The five selected films will be screened at the Vilpola Film Festival on September 13th at 2:00 PM.

3. Top5 filmmakers/working groups will be invited to the festival. Other participants in the competition are also welcome to attend!

Prizes will be awarded on site:

Prize: 800 euro gift certificate*

Prize: 400 euro gift certificate*

Honorable mentions and small product prizes for 3rd–5th place.
